Queer Social Spaces + Activities  


  • NYC Queer Birders – A queer-led birdwatching collective hosting monthly outings in parks across the city. All levels welcome.
  • Let’s Go Birding Together – NYC Bird Alliance – Inclusive birding walks and workshops designed for LGBTQ+ folks and allies in NYC parks. 
  • Stitch 'n Bitchin: A community-led fiber arts movement that began at The Center, bringing people together to knit, crochet, embroider, mend, and craft in welcoming public spaces. Stitch 'n Bitch groups foster creativity, friendship, skill-sharing, and mutual support, creating low-pressure spaces where people can build community one stitch at a time. Many groups are free, open to all skill levels. 
  • NYC Sunday Bowling League – A long-running LGBTQ+ bowling league meeting weekly in Queens for fun and social connection.
  • Queer Bowl – Bowlero Times Square – Monthly LGBTQ+ bowling socials with DJs and community vibes, often organized through Eventbrite.
  • Benny's Club: A queer and BIPOC-led surf collective based in Rockaway Beach, Queens, creating welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ people and surfers of color to learn, surf, and build community. Through surf meetups, lessons, creative events, and beach gatherings, Benny's Club is making surfing more accessible while fostering joy, belonging, and ocean stewardship. 
  • Bad Ball Club: A BIPOC queer community-centered  club that brings people together through low-pressure games, creative gatherings, and neighborhood events. community over competition! Led by School of Softness
  • Queer’s Gambit Chess Club – A queer, trans, and anti-imperialist chess night hosted in Brooklyn bars with a welcoming, radical vibe.
